Depending on your suite’s location, your place in paradise will face the stunning Gulf, the colorful Courtyard, or the peaceful Lagoon. No matter where you stay, you will enjoy fully-furnished and equipped rental units, excellent guest services, fun leisure activities, unsurpassed landscapes, and home comforts in a relaxed vacation setting. The staff will even offer you fresh fruit plucked off the resort’s numerous citrus trees. While you’re in the lobby, browse the souvenir stand for a T-shirt or beach towel, grab a beach read from the library, and select some brochures for ideas about what to do, where to go and what to see on Sanibel.
The suites are clean, comfortable and loaded with extras, and decorated with island-flavored artwork and knick-knacks. The kitchen supplies a microwave, stove, oven, toaster, coffee maker, dishes, glasses, cooking and eating utensils. There is a dining area, a cozy living room with sofas, chairs and a wide screen television with DVD and VHS players, and a screened in lanai with a table and chairs. The master bedrooms have their own bathroom, shower and television.
There is a free linen exchange service, and housekeeping can be arranged for a nominal charge. For your convenience, local markets will arrange to deliver groceries to your door. The conference/business center provides meeting space and free high-speed wireless Internet (WiFi).

Although it’s a safe bet you will want to explore the Islands and everything they have to offer, there is plenty to do right here at Sanibel Moorings:
- Take a guided tour of the stunning tropical flora, including the budding hibiscus collection, and watch the monarchs and queens flutter by in the butterfly garden, or relax in the shade next to the fragrant flowers and listen to the soothing, gurgling fountain.
- Join the weekly shelling lecture before hitting the beach to collect conches and coquinas. Grab some exercise with a game of tennis or take a refreshing dip in one of our swimming pools. Fire up the grill, cook up some fresh fish or good old-fashioned burgers, and enjoy an outdoor picnic, then lounge in your suite and watch a DVD on the flat screen television.
- If you have a Gulf Front suite, pour a cup of coffee, sit on the lanai, and admire an amazing Sanibel sunrise and pelicans scoop up their breakfast.
- For those on the canal side of Sanibel Moorings, you will notice the newly refurbished docks where you can tie up your boat for free and have quick and easy access to the Sanibel River and Gulf of Mexico. You’re welcome to fish on the beach or off the Sanibel Moorings docks. Tarpon, Snook and Sea Trout are just some of the frequent catches. In fact, the Sanibel-Captiva area is known as one of the top tarpon fishing locations in the world.
Things To Do
When you do venture off the property, perhaps you’ll want to golf at one of Sanibel’s challenging courses, or rent a bicycle and hop on the scenic Sanibel bike paths. From Sanibel Moorings, you’re just a mile down the road from several popular East End shops and restaurants. Go another half-mile and you’ll reach the historic Lighthouse – perhaps the most photographed Sanibel landmark. It is still functional, and is currently operated by the Florida Coast Guard. While you’re there, watch the hopeful snowy egrets with their trademark “golden slippers” as they buzz around the fishermen casting their lines off the famous Lighthouse Pier.
Bicycling is certainly a popular way to get around the island and check out all the renowned shops, art galleries, museums, preserves and restaurants. “Ding” Darling Refuge presents fun and educational activities for the whole family, and the likelihood of spotting plenty of wildlife. The Shell Museum and the Sanibel Historic Village are also fascinating stops on the tourist trail, while the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation and Tarpon Bay Explorers offer programs, hands-on nature encounters and scenic island tours that will make for a memorable stay on Sanibel.
Of course, Sanibel is surrounded by miles of gorgeous beach that promise plenty of fun-filled days of sunning, swimming and sailing.
